About

My name is Denise and I’ve started travelling after finishing High School.
I live in mid europe but technically I call many places my home while on the road.

Why did I start travelling?

Like for most people it started with my year abroad. After High School I’ve decided that I was not really willing to work yet so I planned my get away. It’s been my life long dream to go to the USA and so I’ve just made it become reality.
I went to an international school in California where I met people from all over the world all nationalities, religions and customs. And that’s when I realized that this is what I am really interested in – what I really love.

To get to know different people, lifestyles and customs. See places I only know from TV and books. Make those pictures a real life experience.

How to afford travelling?

Well, other than many other travellers I do have a firm job and home. After each travel I come home again back to the same place. On one hand that is not what I am looking for I like going from place to place, on the other hand it’s sometimes nice knowing to be back home furthermore it is easier to pay for travelling when having a firm job.

How often do you travel?
Well, always depending on how long I am staying at a place and how far it is, I think around 10 – 12 places a year.
Considering that I live in the middle of europe it is really easy for me to travel to several place within a few days or go on weekend trips.

Also depending on the budget too 😉

Often I get asked about my favorite place, or the best place I’ve ever been.

Well.. I can’t tell you. Every country is different, every country is special in it’s own way.
While you’ve got beautiful amazing fjords and icy places in Scandinavia you have the beautiful rainforest in and temples in Thailand, the fascination remains in Egypt, Athens and Rome and beautiful beaches in so many countries.

There is not that ONE perfect place on earth but many amazing places supplied with different wonders.

  4. Thanks for stopping by our blog “Wandering”. It’s great to read about your enthusiasm for travel right out of high school. My wife and I started wandering around the world while in college. We are in our mid-sixties now, roller bags have replaced ourback packs, but we’re still wandering! Hope to see you somewhere on the road.

  8. Hi Denise! Your blog is truly amazing, filled by positive energy and great inspiration. It’s wonderful to find someone with whom you can identify yourself. I’ve just finished my high school and started travelling solo. My first stop was Iceland. I spent a moth there, hitchhiking and hiking around. Currently I’m in the UK, preparing my big trip to the U.S. and I really can’t wait! I wish you all the best and see you on the road! 🙂

      • You’re welcome 😊 I saw your pictures from Iceland, wonderful!
I want to explore whole United States, focusing mainly on National Parks and climbing areas. Moreover, I want to follow Pan-American Highway, and see as much as I can. So it will be a very long trip 😊 I’m saving money now. My plan is to start this trip in the spring or summer next year.
Oh, sounds wonderful! Wish you a lot of happiness and great experiences! Take care and have fun 😊

  9. Most of all, there are fantastic and wonderful people everywhere! The more you let them into your life as you meet them, the deeper the adventures and delights of the places where you go to meet them. You will never be tired of the joys of travel if you let the companions who become part of your experience become part of your life!
    Cheers,
    Kathryn
